TeachWriteParent began in 2023 as an idea rooted in lived experience, education, parenting, and the belief that stories can create real change. What started as a small vision has grown into a writing-centered space focused on equity, inclusion, and neurodiversity.
I’m Jennifer Harris, an English Language Arts teacher in rural Colorado, a reader, a writer, and a parent navigating the complexities of raising a neurodivergent child. My work is shaped by both my classroom and my home, by what I have seen, what I have questioned, and what I know needs to be said.
TeachWriteParent is deeply influenced by my son, Alexander, whose voice and perspective continue to challenge and expand my own. As an autistic individual and a strong advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, he reminds me daily that inclusion is not a trend. It is a responsibility.
This space is no longer about offering services. It is about building something more lasting through writing. Here, you will find reflections, stories, and works in progress that center honesty, complexity, and the lived realities of neurodiversity and education.
TeachWriteParent is, at its core, a commitment. A commitment to tell the truth, to amplify voices that are often overlooked, and to create work that resonates beyond the page.
